WASHINGTON, DC - The NAB Education Foundation and American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT) are partnering to host a think tank for executive-level women in media. The group will examine strategies for advancing more women into the top ranks of the media industry. FCC Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate will attend, and invitations will be extended to senior-level female executives. The event, titled "New Directions: Women in Media, the Path to Success," will take place March 13 at NAB headquarters in Washington.
"This is an excellent opportunity for educators and female media executives to come together and discuss the vital role that women play in media," said NAB President and CEO David K. Rehr. "The idea was spearheaded by FCC Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate, and we are proud to co-host the event with AWRT."
"Our goal should be to promote diversity at all levels of media: in the boardrooms and the control rooms alike," said FCC Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate. "We need to see more women in broadcasting who are making decisions, making deals, and truly making history."

at the Hilton Washington Embassy Row. Topics discussed will include career
tactics for advancing women to executive levels, techniques for developing
the next generation of women and leadership, and how to redefine leadership
in a changing media environment.
The NAB Education Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the public interest in supporting and advocating: education and training programs, strategies to increase diversity, initiatives stressing the importance of the First Amendment, community service, philanthropy and timely broadcasting issues.
American Women in Radio and Television is the national, non-profit organization that extends membership to qualified professionals in the electronic media and allied fields. AWRT's mission is to advance the impact of women in the electronic media and allied fields by educating, advocating and acting as a resource to its members and the industry.
