WASHINGTON, DC - The NAB Education Foundation has tapped veteran media executive Cornelius 'Neil' Foote Jr. as the editor of its diversity business quarterly newsletter BroadReach.
The Web publication, first launched in January 2006, is a resource for broadcasters to obtain relevant information about diversity practices, products, strategies and services.
"NABEF's goal is to provide broadcasters with relevant, useful content regarding diversity trends and opportunities that impact our industry," said Marcellus Alexander, president of the NAB Education Foundation. "Neil's exceptional media career and strong journalistic background provide the perfect combination to accelerate BroadReach forward in our constantly evolving communications space."
The publication is released on a quarterly calendar and can be found on the NABEF Web site. Foote's first issue, focused on NABEF’s Media Sales Institute program, is now available online.
"BroadReach is a great vehicle to demonstrate the numerous ways diversity is impacting our industry,” said Foote. “Serving as editor is a wonderful opportunity to share the stories and celebrate the successes of the current - and future - executives who are making a difference."
In addition to editing the business quarterly, Foote is an assistant professor of journalism at the University of North Texas specializing in electronic media, and also runs Foote Communications, a public relations and multicultural marketing firm.
During his 25 year career, he has worked at the Miami Herald, the Washington Post, the Dallas Morning News, the Belo Corporation and The Tom Joyner Morning Show. He also worked for The American Society of Newspaper Editors, the newspaper industry's leading editorial association.
Foote is chairperson of the National Association of Minority Media Executives as well as a longstanding member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Foote has a B.A. from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, a M.S.J. from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and an M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University.
