DC -- NAB has announced that the Executive Development Program for Radio
Broadcasters (EDP) and the Management Development Seminar for Television
Executives (MDS) have been combined to form the Broadcast Executive Development
Seminar, an MBA-style program designed to increase managerial effectiveness
and provide broadcast managers and executives with additional tools for
career advancement. The Seminar will be held at Georgetown University's
McDonough School of Business July 25 - 28.
"Helping members of the broadcast industry achieve their career goals is an integral part of NAB's mission to provide value to radio and television broadcasters," said NAB President and CEO David K. Rehr. "Combining the two seminars will allow broadcasters to learn about the common objectives shared by the radio and television communities."
The Seminar will teach attendees to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving business environment of radio and television broadcasting. Participants will learn effective negotiating strategies, develop peer networks and learn how to establish a successful managerial style.
Anyone holding a broadcast management position at either a radio or television station is invited to apply. Radio and television executives with general management responsibilities will also be considered, space permitting. The NAB Education Foundation (NABEF) will award up to four fellowships for the Seminar through the Professional Fellowship Program, an initiative that promotes diversity by increasing the pool of qualified broadcasters from minority groups who may not be fully represented at the management level. Eligible applicants for the Program include women and people of color who are general managers, group executives, news directors, sales managers, program directors or other senior level broadcast managers.
