The NAB Leadership Foundation is heading into the new decade with YOU in mind. We are planning a slate of programs and activities to help you grow your career, develop your staff and lead our industry!

In 2020, we will continue our effort to invest in our industry’s greatest resource, our people! Your career development and recruitment and retention needs are our top priority. To get a running start on serving you, we have relaunched your newsletter! Welcome to The Lead, a newsletter designed to provide you with leadership insight, learn about the successes of your peers and get you involved in our various initiatives.

Is 2020 the year for you to take your career to the next level?Consider participating in our Broadcast Leadership Training program for senior level executives or our First Time Manager series for new supervisors.

The application for the Broadcast Leadership Training program opens on January 31. This program is designed for those senior level executives who are ready to move into more leadership, corporate or executive positions and/or station ownership. If you’re an intrapreneur or entrepreneur ready to place your stamp on the industry, you’ll want to consider applying.

Are you hoping to get your first management role this year? The First time Manager series is offered online, at an affordable rate, year-round. This program gives you a leg up by providing the tools to help you become an effective manager. Get this certificate and you’ll be far better prepared than most first-time managers!

If you are looking for entry level talent, consider participating as a recruiter or a mentor in our Media Sales Academy or the Technology Apprenticeship Program. Both programs train college students and recent grads from markets of all sizes for entry level sales and engineering or technology positions. Let’s make this year the year you start to turn the tide on attracting and retaining entry level talent in these two critical areas of the business.

Finally, we want to highlight the great work you are doing in your communities! The call for entries for our Celebration of Service to America will open next week. Your station could be recognized in front of a national audience that includes Members of Congress, FCC Commissioners, a high-profile celebrity and your peers. We know you’ve been doing exceptional work and we would like to see your station in the spotlight!

Recently, a trusted advisor asked if I had any goals for the new year. She asked, “what will be true next year at this time that is not true today?” I’ll build on that question by asking you, what will be true about your career, your company, or your impact on the industry next year at this time, that is not true today? What steps are you taking to ensure that outcome and how can the NAB Leadership Foundation serve you along the way?
